| Is Your Backyard Endangering Your Dog's Life? |
|
| Even in a secluded, fenced backyard, your dog's life could be in danger. Many pet owners are unaware of the hidden dangers in their own backyard that could harm, threaten, or even take the life of your four-legged friend.
A backyard that appears to be a dog's oasis can still be full of all sorts of dangers, especially for rambunctious puppies. Puppies are energetic and tend to explore everything they encounter. Their natural urge to chew can be deadly in a dangerous backyard.
The most common age for dogs to fall victim to harmful backyard dangers is between the ages of one and six months. Some breeds of dogs, like Golden Retrievers, have a tendency to chew and gnaw all throughout their lives. |

| Christmas Gifts for Dog Lovers |
|
| Let's admit it, the US and UK are both countries of dog lovers, and dog owners love to indulge their dogs like children. You only have to listen to a dog owner call out to their dog, playing in the park or field, to realize how devoted they can be. Being devoted, dog lovers, and their friends, like to give dog gifts. Dog lovers often refer to their dogs as "baby", or to themselves, when talking to the dog, as mummy or daddy. It's no surprise then that dog toys are a big market, and can make excellent dog lover gifts.
Choosing the right dog toys can be more difficult than you may think. The problem is, you probably "think" in a human way. Dog lovers, and those buying gifts for them, love to buy cute, squeaky toys for the dogs, or give them stuffed animals which they can chew on and carry around. That's really the human thinking in baby terms. The result is likely to be a dog lover gift for the dog lover, not the dog.
If you are buying a gift for a dog lover, or are a dog lover buying for your own dog, then try to remember that dog toys have no need to be cute to look at. A dog does not appreciate cuteness, so if you want a real dog gift, rather than a dog lover gift, then look for something practical, fun for the dog, durable, and safe. |

| First Class with Pet Airways |

|
Leaving your dog or cat alone in the cargo of a plane causes anxiety for many pet owners. As a solution to this problem, founders and husband and wife team Alysa Binder and Dan Wiesel launched Pet Airways, the first pet only airline.
"Currently, most pets travelling by air are transported in the cargo hold and are handled as baggage. The experience is frightening to the pets, and can cause severe emotional and physical harm, even death. This is not what most pet owners want to subject their pets to, but they have had no other choice, until now." said Wiesel.
The airline plans to launch its first weekly flight on July 14, 2009 and will initially serve five US cities--- New York City, Washington,D.C.,Chicago, Denver and Los Angeles--- for a fee of about $150.The airline will operate with amenities and procedures that are conducive to pet transportation. So why fly with Pet Airways?

More than 10 million pets are reported lost every year. Preventative measures can be taken to eliminate the chances of your pet ever becoming one of these statistics, although it can still happen. Dogs without collars have an even lesser chance of being reunited with their families. According to the American Humane Association, roughly 17% of lost dogs and 2% of lost cats ever find their owners. Lost pets become labeled as “strays” and nearly 20 million of them are euthanized each year because their owners cannot be located. One way to greatly increase the possibility of your lost pet being reunited is to have them tagged with a microchip.

| Canine parties are now a fact of life for many dog and their owners. If you are invited to a party for a pooch which dog accessories will you need? Maybe you are the one planning the event, you will still need accessories.
It will depend on the event of course. If you are going to be a guest at a summer shindig you may want matching beachwear for you and your little furry friend or at least hats and beach towels.

| Dog owners who go on business trips or take vacations have to decide whether to board their dog in a kennel or take the dog with them. For many dog owners, leaving their animals behind is not an option; they want the animal to accompany them, even if it means flying with a dog.
The key element when flying with a dog on an airplane is to make plans and work out the specifics in advance of the flight. The following is a list of details to consider before flying with a dog:

| Stained |

Acid Yellow. Sticky Green. Runny Brown. Wet red. While all of these are perfectly fine colors, you probably wouldn’t want them tattooed on the plush carpet you spent hundreds, maybe thousands on. But we all know how often Fido has his little “accidents” from time to time, and maybe you have the stains to prove it. (How many times have you gone to someone’s house and smelled that ‘urine-smell’? That’s why).
If you ask the Average Joes with dogs, most of them don’t know how to handle the dogs-with-carpet situation; in fact, many people opt for cheap, brillo-pad quality carpet so they won’t care about stains. Thankfully, though, we don’t have to make that sacrifice. Pataski Edmondson, owner of All Seasons CarpetCare in Sandy Springs, Ga., has a few words of advice, one of them being this: “Worry more about urine stains.” That’s because urine has acid contents that are quickly absorbed by carpet (hence the sour-smell issue mentioned above). Of course, urine, vomit, or feces are unwanted. That’s why Edmondson, who owns a Silky Terrier (he’s a family man), has shared these tips you’ll find useful:

Christmas family photos are simply a MUST at this time of the year and can occur at any given moment. Aunt Doodles, Uncle Snonkers & perhaps an overfed snoring dad can be difficult to round up and when you’re ready to shoot, there goes the dog! The problem with this plan is that by the time you do get around to taking that picture, your pet is overcome with the day’s frenzy and can’t be still for a two seconds! This also goes for when you take the pet to a nearby pet store for photos.

Tips For Leaving Your Dog Home Alone Does your dog have a sad face when you leave home in the morning?
I firmly believe that owning a dog is compatible with having a full-time job outside the home. You just need to use the right techniques and products to keep Fido occupied while you're gone.
You also need to minimize the possibility of incessant barking that riles your neighbors and results in police showing up on your doorstep.
Here's what has worked for me:
