Located in California there is a place that is like paradise for dogs, north of Burbank in Sun Valley, California lies the Paradise Ranch Pet Resort. The ranch is the first Cage-Free “home environment” Pet kennel. This means that instead of the cages, and foreign environments of other kennels, the Paradise Resort provides it's guests the same rooms that you might expect of a human home.

    Paradise Ranch was Founded by Kristyn Goddard. Her Idea was born from her experience in running an old fashioned kennel 15 years ago. She was new to the kennel business, but she could see that the dogs were unhappy staying in the cages. She asked her husband if he would allow them to open their house to the dogs so that they could stay in a more home-like environment,

    Always a favorite of the rich and famous the Maltese has it's roots around southern Europe, from there, it was exported to the Mediterranean island of Malta and traded all around the world garnering it the name “Ye ancient dogge of Malta”. It was first mentioned around 350 B.C. by Aristotle, the Greek scientist and philosopher. the breed has largely remained the same since earlier times continuing the role of companion to aristocrats, nobles, and celebrities.

But those toy size dogs live in Paris Hilton's dog house - that is nothing like a toy.

Paris Hilton's dog house has two floors and is thoroughly pink. Downstairs is the lounging and relaxing area from the stress of being Paris Hilton's dogs. Upstairs is the sleeping area and a closet for her pups many different outfits.

   Known for its many unique gifts and traits the Rottweiler is certainly a leader among dogs.  It is probable that the breed descended from the Italian Mastiff in Europe during the Middle Ages. The Rottweiler is a courageous dog and can be very devoted to their owner. By nature the breed is very loyal and protective of their masters. Although they can be tough to train, with a lot of practice and patience the reward in the end is worthwhile.

Standing at average 13 to16 inches tall and weighing around 15 to 30 pounds, the Cocker Spaniel is a beloved American family dog and also a well-honored breed among judges at dog shows. Because many owners desire the “perfect dog” it has now been widely linked to inbreeding.  

      Although the breed’s future is uncertain, its past is very interesting, as the breed is known as a hunting dog rather than a show dog. Better known as the American Cocker Spaniel, the name Cocker comes from the woodcock, a bird that this breed flushes out very well. The dog was used for hunting, tracking and retrieving by the English in previous years. They were bred perfect for hunting. Its muzzle is wide, deep and broad and has a very distinctive jaw. The teeth are strong and the eyes are round which gives them a very clean sight ahead. The body shape of Cocker Spaniels is very compact and consists of a short back. The bones in their legs were sturdy as well. The physique of Cocker Spaniels made them favorite among the English in earlier years. 

Named after the past president of Pasadena Beautiful, the Alice Frost Kennedy Dog Park is the first off-leash area in the city. Located in Pasadena, California this is a dog park that contains areas for large and small dogs of all kinds. 2.5 acres of fenced in land keep you and man’s best friend capable of roaming around for hours. The dog park is located in Vina Vieja Park and is maintained by the City of Pasadena. A dog organization in Pasadena named POOCH (Pasadenians Organizing Off-Leash Canine Habitats) are responsible for all the upgrades at the park. Park hours are 7 a.m. to dusk.

Known as the smallest breed in the world, and the oldest breed in North America, the Chihuahua is named after the Mexican state of Chihuahua. It is believed that these tiny animals were sacred to Pre-Columbian Indian nations. As a matter of fact, these dogs were used in religious ceremonies and belonged to the wealthy upper class. As of today, the Chihuahua is appearing in roles of hit movies. The breed is tiny yet it has a lot of energy in its personality.
