One of the best things about having a dog is that you get to meet new people, and their dogs, which is why getting a furkid is also a great way to get a date.
In the spirit of Valentine’s Day, here are three places to take your dog and score a date at the same time.
1. Dog Parks
To be perfectly honest, if you’re not meeting other people at the dog park, you’re doing it wrong. This is a veritable gold mine when it comes to striking up a conversation with a cute guy or gal. You already have a talking point – your dog – so all you need to do is, well, start talking. Ask your potential date how long they’ve been a pet parent, if their dog is a rescue – do they like beer and wings? You get the picture.
2. Dog Beaches
The sand, the sun, the surf – the dogs playing in the waves – it’s an ideal opportunity for meeting cool people. If you’re having trouble getting a certain cutie to notice you, engage their dog in a game of fetch or chase with yours. It’s really hard to resist someone playing with your dog, and even harder not to join in the fun. If all else fails, have your dog shake off the water and sand right in front of your intended. Now that you have their attention, get busy.
3. Dog Friendly Coffee Shops and Bars
Picture this: It’s a gorgeous day, you’re sipping your morning joe with your pooch sitting quietly by your side when along comes the person of your dreams. Luckily the café is totally full and your table is the only one with empty chairs, which leaves your future paramour no choice but to sit down at your table, and enjoy your clever banter and gentle kisses from your dog.
Okay, okay, this will probably never happen, but the idea here is that coffee shops and bars with outdoor seating are a fantastic way to meet and chat up other dog owners. So if the place is crowded, and the only available seat happens to be at the table of the one who caught you eye, seize the moment and sit down.
